Use A Dialog Box to Open An Application or URL

Updated: 28-Jun-2016

Sometimes wading through a menu to find an application to run can often seem inefficient. This article shows you how to use a dialog box to open an application or URL quickly. We compare how it's done in both Windows and Linux.

Windows:

  1. Click Start, Run.
  2. Type the URL or the name of the application into the box.
  3. Click OK.

Linux:

  1. Press Alt+F2 on the keyboard.
  2. Type the URL or the name of the application into the box.
  3. Click Run.
